When Alyson was eleven, she convinced her mother to move to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career, and she soon landed a role in My Stepmother is an Alien, with Kim Basinger and Dan Akroyd. Seth Green, who plays her boyfriend on Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, also played her boyfriend in that movie. Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered in March, 1997, and Alyson's been playing the weekly role of everyone's favourite schoolgirl, Willow Rosenberg, ever since.

In 1998, Alyson played Lucy in Dead Man on Campus, but it was 1999's American Pie that was her breakthrough film role. Everyone now knows Alyson as Michelle, the "One time, at band camp" girl, from American Pie.
